THE BEST OUTFITS FOR A COZY ROAD TRIP

It can be hard to pick the right outfit when traveling long distances by car. You want to be stylish and comfortable while still looking cute. The type of clothing you wear will depend on the time of the year and how long your trip will last. Because your trip is likely to span several days, you may need multiple outfits for road trips. Have you ever heard of a cross-country roadtrip?

You are planning a roadtrip and want to look fashionable but also comfortable while on the road. This post is for you. These six styling tips are what I have used over the years for many road trips.

6 TOP TIPS FOR ROAD TRAVEL OUTFITS

WEAR COMFORTABLE SOLES

While I love wedges and high heels as much as anyone, shoes are important for commuting.

Peter and me often research places along our road trip. We pull over quickly, explore the area, and then we move on. We usually run across the road to take the photo or go for a short hike. Comfortable shoes are essential.

WEAR LAYERS

It depends on the season you are traveling, so you may need to dress warmly. But layers are a must. Take off a layer if you become too hot. Layers that get too cold can be added to your sweater, long sleeve or jacket if it gets very cold.

I’m wearing a short-sleeve button-down shirt with a button-down sleeve top and a boyfriend tee. This was my March road trip along California’s coast. It was gorgeous weather and a bit fresh. I love the flexibility to add or remove layers.

LEGGINGS FOR DENIM (OR SHORTS DURING SUMMER)

Leggings are the best option for me because I don’t want to feel uncomfortable while I sit in the car for hours. I can cross my legs and blog on the laptop this way. Black is the best color for leggings. These leggings look slimming, and conceal the occasional stain from road snacks.

Leggings are perfect for road trips in winter, autumn, or spring. For a summer road trip, wear shorts. You don’t want to wear anything too tight or in denim. You can opt for drawstring pants, such as these Drawstring Waist Chambray Shorts. Or these Pull-On Shorts made by Madewell, which are great for a comfortable and casual road trip outfit.

BRING A TRAVEL TETE OR A LARGE HANDBAGG

A small clutch for a roadtrip is just not possible. You will need a large bag to carry your daily necessities on a roadtrip. Hand sanitizer for hand and face, eye makeup, or hair accessories, as well a small bag to hold snacks and mints.

SUNGLASSES!

It is possible to spend long hours in a car. This can also be a problem for some people. You can’t forget sunglasses, as you do for long flights.

RAISE YOUR HAIR

My hair is not able to retain its volume after driving for three hours, whether the windows are rolled down or not. I wear my hair up to avoid feeling annoyed by my hair losing its bounce.
